Soul Daisy Designs - Spring/Summer 2003 Collection
Nonchalant. Designer Shainin Hudda says this
is the first adjective that springs to mind when she's asked to
define her Spring/Summer 2003 collection for SoulDaisy designs.
Feminine [but not sucky], quirky [just a tad], and easy [as in
to wear] expand her description of the line.
The collection, in fact, has 7 sweet 'n nice
groupings. "Don't Eat The Daisies" was inspired by an
old Doris Day song of the same name. The daisies on these styles
are definitely inedible, but delicious nonetheless. Texture, print
and assymetrical details stand out in this cool summer group with
linen/rayon solids, cotton belize stripes and bias ruffle poly
fabrics.
During the first millennium B.C. through the
middle of the second millennium A.D., a vast network of trade
routes known as the "Silk Road" linked the people and
traditions of Asia with those of Europe. East meeting West sets
the mood for this group which highlights an array of oceanic and
sunset colours and fine dual tone silk duppioni fabrics.
In Pippi Longstocking, you're invited to meet
the new Pippi! She's gotten rid of her long striped stockings
and opted for a still zany, but stylish new wardrobe. This group
has great assymetrical pleating details, large scallop cutouts
at the sleeves and [rest assured] stripes! The cotton and cord
fabrics in chocolate and caramel colours are easy to wear and
tear around in.
Souldaisy's denim group is entitled, Burn The
Black Suit. Inspired by Juliet Turner's song of the same name,
details in this group include red contrast top stitching, flower
enamelled buttons and wide back belt, available in black and blue
denim. As Juliet sings, "If this is desire, then expect nothing
new...but if this is love, burn your black suit."
Yoga Baby is Soul Daisy's collection of baby
tees. Whether you wear them to yoga, pilates or just lounge around
in them [eating chocolate, of course], these 100% cotton made
in Canada souldaisy logo tees will keep you cool all summer long.
"Picture yourself on a train in a station,
with plasticine porters and looking glass ties. Suddenly someone
is there at the turnstile, the girl with kaleidoscope eyes. Lucy
in the sky with diamonds, Lucy in the sky with diamonds, Lucy
in the sky with diamonds, ah, ah...". The Beatles are ever
inspiring. Soul Daisy's Lucy loves the diamond dotted stretch
net fabric and ease of wear of these simple but sexy styles. Shine
on...
The inspiration for the bestselling group, Girl
from Ipanema, lies in the warmth of the summer sun on your face,
toes slowly digging into the warm, soft sand, and the smooth as
velvet combination of Getz/Gilberto seizing your soul, making
it dance. Available in white, black and scarlet, these styles
boast simple and classic lines with a touch of flamenco-like frills.
As a whole, the Spring/Summer collection brings
forth a strong message of nonchalance, femininity, quirkiness
and above all, ease of wear! We invite you to check out the collection
today online at souldaisy.com or this spring at local Vancouver
boutiques including Liquid Clothing [West 4th], Raya [Commercial
Drive] and Barefoot Contessa [Main Street].
