MAY 2003 - THIS DAISY IS FRESH - Canadian fashion designer, Shainin Hudda is the creative force behind SoulDaisy Clothing Designs, a Canadian made original urban ready-to-wear clothing collection offering high quality, innovative styles for modern women with individuality.

Born in Uganda, designer, Shainin Hudda moved to Canada as a child. She received her diploma in fashion design and clothing technology along with a bachelor's degree in business administration in Vancouver. With a major in marketing and communications and extensive work experience for a local designer, Shainin then pursued business for a number of years including career advising - her advice - follow your heart.

And follow her heart she did - after a trip to Paris, she began Beautiful House Productions, an event production side project in Vancouver to promote and showcase local musicians and artists and soon found herself immersed in talent and began designing a small holiday collection of her own. SoulDaisy's first women's collection, Holiday 2000, began selling locally in Vancouver and a larger Spring/Summer 2001 women's collection ensued with a tremendous amount of support by local singers and songwriters and local boutique owners.

A growing number of specialty stores and boutiques across Canada and the United States and England now carry the up-and-coming Canadian clothing label which is also available ONLINE to retail customers. Nominated for Most Promising Newcomer of 2003 by Apparel BC, our modern and stylish Vancouver clothing label has established itself in a growing niche market of independent Canadian women's clothing designers catering to boutiques that want good quality original designs for their young, urban, sophisticated clientelle.

In between collections, designer, Shainin Hudda offers her expertise in fashion design and business as the head fashion instructor at the Art Institute of Vancouver. The Apparel Design program emphasizes innovation, creativity, and technical skills as a way to help launch your career. Students learn computerized pattern-making technology, flat pattern drafting, sewing, and draping. As they progress through the program, students enhance their conceptual skills beginning with an idea and taking it through the construction process to a finished garment.
